Sylvester Kwakye

Poetry

I am a 1X Pushcart Prize nominee & the author of Flying From Nectar To Hive (Self-Published, 2023) and Ode To My Clinical Rotation (Ghost City Press, 2024). I have published in many reputable journals like the Rising Phoenix Review, Passionfruit Review, Coffin Bell Journal, The Amistad, & the Archipelago among others. In most of my writing, I explore themes about home, slavery, war, resistance & politics. I am a member of the Archipelago Collective.

Medicine

I am a final year medical student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in training at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Here, I have co-founded Study Pot — Ghana's premier medical school online peer-tutoring platform — to create a grand avenue for collaborative learning & peer academic support.

Research

I am a peer reviewer for the Annals of Internal Medicine, a journal of the American College of Physicians. I am a research scholar working under Professor Paul Poku Ossei Sampene (Consultant Pathologist, KNUST-KATH).

Authorship

I work on different book projects in two languages: Twi & English. I am currently co-working on a Chemistry book as well as a historico-cultural book on the Akan people (everything in this volume is written in Twi). I also accept pitches to work on books for publishers on high school subjects & children's books.
